はじめに Introduction
Aloha International Preschool（以下、本校）は、Kindergarten幼稚部コースにおいて、当校の教育理念に基づき子供たちの豊かな未来の実現のため、本校の教育プログラムに併せ、国際バカロレア機構（IB）の提唱するフレームワーク（教育の枠組み）を取り入れ、国際教育の実践に努めています。
Aloha International Preschool (hereafter referred to as “the school”) strives to implement international education by incorporating the framework proposed by the International Baccalaureate (IB) in our school’s educational program for the Kindergarten course to create a prosperous future for children based on the school’s educational philosophy.
１．この言語方針について Purpose of the Language Policy
本校のKindergarten言語方針は、創立の理念と教育理念に基づき管理職と職員で作成されています。また、本方針は、IB（国際バカロレア）の定める基準と実践要綱、PYP言語における学習範囲と順序（スコープとシーケンス）に沿って、当校における言語習得の全体像と、その指針となる原則を提供します。
本校のスタッフとコミュニティ一同は、この言語方針の定める内容に対し全力を尽くすことが求められ、本校に与えられたミッションを達成できるよう、この言語方針を守るというものです。
Our Kindergarten Language Policy is developed based on founding principles and educational philosophy with management and staff.
The policy provides the guiding principles and an overview of our school’s language acquisition in line with the IB (International Baccalaureate) standards and practices of the scope and sequence in the PYP.
Our staff and the school community will commit to the content of this language policy to fulfill the school’s mission.
２．本学における言語の考え方 Language Philosophy
私たちは、言語習得と学びに関して、以下の共通認識を持ちます。
- 言語は、重要な教育上の焦点です。なぜなら、言語習得は、全てのカリキュラムと学習フェーズにおいて、効果的な学びと対をなすものだからです。
- 言語は全ての学びの要であり、学びから得た意味を理解し、世界に対する理解を深める為に使われます。また、自らの考えを伝えること、相手の考えを理解するためのコミュニケーションツールとして、必要不可欠であると考えます。
- 言語は、特に幼児教育では、遊びや探究を通じて実体験の中で学ぶことが最善であると信じています。そのため、本校のKindergartenコースでは、生徒が自らの意思と興味を持ち言語習得が可能となるよう、興味分野に基づいた遊びと探究に焦点を当てた多様な指導方法と計画を通じて、言語習得に取り組みます。
- ２つ以上の言語の習得と、生徒の母国語の維持は、個々の成長を充実させるとともに、国際的な理解を促進します。私たちは、生徒の母国語が学校の所在する国の言語であることが多いことを踏まえ、日本語でのサービスプログラムを用意し、文化と言語を学ぶ機会を与えます。
We share the following common understanding of the language acquisition and learning.
Language is important as a focal point in education since language acquisition is the key to effective learning for all curricula and learning phases.
Language is the key to all learning and deepening our understanding of our world. We also believe it is essential as a communication tool for shaping our ideas and understanding the thoughts of others.
We believe language education, especially in early childhood, is best learned through real-life experience while playing and inquiry. Therefore, our Kindergarten course addresses language acquisition through diverse teaching methods and plans that focus on inquiry and playing based on the student’s interests to stimulate their curiosity and lead them to be self-motivated in language acquisition.
Acquiring more than two languages and maintaining the level of the student’s native language enhance individual growth and promote international understanding. We recognize our student’s native language is often Japanese since the country of the school’s location is Japan. Therefore, we provide a Japanese service program for the students as an opportunity to learn the culture and language.
３．本校における言語環境 Language Environment
Kindergartenコースのメインプログラムの授業内で使用される言語は、教職員や生徒間においてすべて英語となります。（ただし、教職員スタッフは、困窮時、混乱時、緊急時には必要に応じて日本語で対応します。）
本校の生徒は、創立の由来にもあるように、学校が所在する国の国籍を持つ生徒の割合が高く、多くの生徒は英語を第二言語として話します。生徒は、本校の教育プログラムの中、母国語を覚えるように自然と英語を理解する力を身に着けていきます。そして、第二言語としての高い英語力を身に着けることができます。
最初の1年間では、聞く・話す力、そして2年目3年目には、聞く・話す力に加え、読む・書く力を身に着けていきます。英語を使用し自らの考えを表現し、他者の考えやグローバルな視点で理解を深めることのできるバイリンガルとして成長していきます。
また、学校が所在する国の言語や文化を育むため、メインプログラムが終了後にはサービスプログラムとして日本の知育（日本語）を週4日1時間ずつ行っています。
本校の言語学習プログラムの効果を見極める為に、言語力の評価ツールが利用されることがあります。
Teachers and students will use English during the main program classes for the Kindergarten course. However, teachers and staff will provide Japanese instructions in any case of emergencies when necessary. As written in the Language Philosophy, the students’ percentage of being Japanese citizens is high since the school location is Japan, making English the second language for most of them. Our educational program enables the students to develop their English as naturally as their native language and leads them to acquire a high level of English as a second language. The students learn to listen and speak English in their first year and learn to read and write in addition to listening and speaking in their second and third years. Students will grow as bilinguals using English to express their thoughts and have a deep understanding of other’s thoughts and global visions. In addition, to foster the language and culture of the country of the school location, we also offer a one-hour Japanese service program four days a week after the main program.
There is a possibility that the assessment tools determine the effectiveness of our language learning program.
４．入園試験について Entrance Exam
入学試験における生徒と保護者との面接においては、保護者の当校への学校理念と教育方針への理解、入学後の生徒への支援の確認が行われます。また、生徒の成長の確認の一環として、ことばの理解力等の確認が日本語と英語で行われます
The kindergarten admission interview with the student and their parents or guardians are to ensure their understanding of the school philosophy and educational policy and the support for the students after enrolling in our school. In addition, we check the student’s language comprehension for Japanese and English as part of checking the student’s growth process.
５．指導言語について Language of Instruction
当校のKindergartenメインコースでは、英語が指導言語として採用されています。また、生徒は、毎日のメインカリキュラムとオプション（別途有料）のアフタースクールプログラムを通じて、第二言語学習のさらなるサポートを受けることが可能です。
日本語の学習においては、決められた指導時間があり、サービスプログラムとしての日本語知育学習が行われます。
保護者は、本学のコミュニティ意識と帰属意識を確立する為に、クラス内に参加の際には可能な限り、英語で会話することが奨励されます。ただし、教職員との面談時には、日本語・英語のどちらを使用することも可能です。
Our school uses English as a language of instruction for the Kindergarten’s main course, so the students could also participate in the after-school programs as a separate paid option to enhance support in learning their second language.
For learning Japanese, we have an arranged schedule for our service program, Japanese intellectual education.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to speak English as much as possible when participating in class to establish a sense of community and belongingness. However, both Japanese and English are available when having an interview with the teachers and school staff.
６．バイリンガル教育に関する考え方 Our Views on Bilingual Education
私たちは、２つ以上の言語に触れることとバイリンガル教育は、言語習得のみならず、生活と学びのあらゆる領域において、多様な視座を提供すると考えています。
We believe bilingual education and exposure to more than two languages not only makes the children learn a new language but also diversifies their perspectives in all areas of life and their learning.
私たちは、本言語方針の全てを通じて、本校のコミュニティを形成する全関係者（生徒、教員、管理職、 保護者）が、生徒の言語習得と使用、および、学び全般を支援することに対して、責任を負っていることを示しています。
当校の生徒は、言語を通し次のことを実施します。
・自分の考えや気持ち、やりたいことや必要な物事を伝える
・他者を理解するために、相手のことばに耳を傾ける
・毎日を楽しく豊かにするため、コミュニケーションを行う。
・身近な小さな世界から、大きな世界まで興味を広げるためのツールとして役立てる
・英語の音やしくみを楽しみ、文字への興味をもつ。
・創造的な方法で言葉を楽しむ
・積極的に発表をし、互いの経験や考えを共有し合う
・卒園後も、言語学習をつづけ、学習者であり続ける
教員は、次のことを実施します。
・本校の言語方針を理解し、同意します。
・コミュニケーションの模範を示します。
・全ての教員が言語の教師であることについて理解し、取り組みます。
・生徒と保護者の間で活発なコミュニケーションがなされるよう取り組みます。
・授業の計画、指導において、生徒が適切に言語習得を行えるよう取り組みます。
・保護者に対して、適切なタイミングで生徒の言語習得に関してフィードバックを行います。
・生徒の学習や作品において、幅の広い指導と評価方法を常に取り入れます。
保護者は、次のことを実施します。
・本校の言語方針を理解し、支援します。
・生徒がバイリンガルとして成長するため、家庭では生徒が母国語を維持する為の機会を提供し、スクールでの言語ポリシーを支援し奨励します。
・学校と家庭の両方において、言語学習の全領域における学習支援を提供します。
・生徒の学習進捗を見守り、もしも不安や懸念がある場合には、まずクラス担任教員へ相談します。
管理職は、次のことを実施します。
・全ての教員に対して本校の言語方針と実践要綱を提供し,積極的に研修の機会を与えます。
・全ての保護者に対して本校の言語方針の理解に努めます。
・この言語方針を定期的に見直します。
The language policy indicates all parties of the school community, including students, teachers, management, and parents, are responsible for supporting the students’ language acquisition and usage and education in general.
Our students will implement the following through language.
・Communicating thoughts and feelings, what you want or need to do.
・Be open to what others have to say to understand them.
・Communicate to enrich your daily life with joy.
・Value communication to enrich your daily life with joy.
・ Utilize as a tool to expand interests from the small world surroundings to a much larger world.
・Enjoy the sounds and structure of the English language and develop an interest in letters.
・Use creative ways to enjoy the language.
・Actively present and share experiences and ideas with each other.
・Continue language acquisition and remain a learner even after graduation.
The teachers will implement the following.
・Understand and agree with the school’s language policy.
・Set an example of communication.
・All teachers understand and engage as language teachers.
・To ensure active communication between students and parents.
・To engage in planning and instructing the curriculum to ensure students acquire language properly.
・Provide feedback to parents on the child’s language acquisition at the appropriate time.
・Constantly incorporate a wide range of instructional and assessment methods.
The parents and guardians will implement the following.
・Understand and support the school’s language policy.
・For students to develop as bilinguals, the family would support and encourage the school’s language policy and provide opportunities to maintain their native language.
・Provide learning support in all areas of language acquisition, both at school and at home.
・Monitor the student’s progress, and consult with the teacher in charge of the class if there are any concerns.
Management will implement the following.
・The school provides active training opportunities, school language policy, and practice for all teachers.
・The school strives to ensure all parents and guardians are aware of the school’s language policy.
・The language policy would be reviewed regularly.
